Together
People who know me are aware of my approach to music. It is far removed from the need to understand. I much prefer to challenge myself when listening, to allow myself to detect emotions, to let myself be infected by them, to encourage myself to think about myself and the world.
In recent months, I have had the opportunity to get to know Sofia’s music and immerse myself in her musical world. And that does me a lot of good.
Her cycle “Unbounded Sounds” repeatedly breaks down the boundaries between musical genres, bringing together musicians in duos and trios.
And today, too, the evening begins with a duo, qanun and bass, starting with subtle splashes of color that soon become structured surfaces, with warm lines in between. What is happening in front of me is a testament to understanding, a togetherness that soon radiates harmony and gentle reliability.
Then, in the trio with piano, the whole thing takes on additional colors and, above all, even more power. For me, the sound is now closer to jazz, without losing the beauty of the whole; the picture is now much more diverse, but never loses the magic it had from the beginning.
It is a soothing evening here at the Sargfabrik, an evening that gives strength, an evening that shows once again what togetherness can look like. And, of course, an evening that gives me great pleasure.
Many thanks
